The Ultimatebet Cheating (super user) Scandal

Once again a company owned (at least on paper) by Tokwiro Enterprises has had to admit to insider cheating. [Official Ultimatebet Press Release]

Last year, Absolute Poker was accused and ultimately found guilty of insider cheating by unnamed executives of the company. They were fined and forced to clean house.

There were many unanswered questions surrounding the Absolute poker scandal as far as who was fingered as the cheater and who was actually fired over the incident.

I have alleged all along that although Joe Norton claims his company (Tokwiro) owns Absolute and Ultimatebet, his ownership is merely a front for the true owners... Scott Tom and his family along with the other investors who originally founded Absolute Poker. Cornell Figi claims to have proof of this in his posts on 2 pls 2.

The super user account used at Absolute was directly linked to Scott Tom's home address and the super user account was apparently registered in Scott Tom's wife's name.

Now, Ultimatebet, sister site to Absolute has admitted that their system was compromised by a super user who was involved with the previous owners of the company. What a mess! It appears that the owners (whoever they really are) of these companies are doing everything possible to destroy themselves and the industry itself.

For those who are unaware of the scandals or the Joe Norton connection to all this, here's a brief history:
Scott Tom and his frat buddies, with financial backing from the Tom and Tatum families, founded Absolute Poker.
Absolute Poker/Ultimatebet are licensed by the Kahnewake Gaming Commission (KGC) and their servers are housed on the Mohawk Internet Technologies (MIT) servers.
KGC and MIT are operated the Mohawks and located on the Kahnewake Reserve, just outside of Montreal in Quebec Canada.
Joe Norton, Grand Chief of the Mohawk Tribe, helped set up KGC and MIT.
Joe Norton retired as chief and eventually claimed ownership of Absolute and Ultimatebet.

Does all this sound like a conflict of interest?

I have to wonder how the licensing body, auditors, security team, management and owners of Ultimatebet all failed to consider that Ultimatebet could be compromised based on what happened at Absolute a few months prior. Yet, no one bothered to check out their systems for similar vulnerabilities. It took the same team of players that broke the Absolute scandal to force Ultimatebet to admit they had a super user in their midst.

Once again, I salute the guys at 2 plus 2 for discovering the abnormal play and for having the persistence to force Ultimatebet to finally come clean (sort of).

I have to give thanks and appreciation to Cornell Figi on 2 plus 2 for taking so much time gathering the pertinent information and producing a coherent package for us all to use and refer to.

Links will be provided at the end of this article.

So we have two companies owned by the same people that are both found guilty of allowing insiders (executives and owners?) to gain access to super user accounts which allow the user to view the opponents hole cards during game play.

We have millions of dollars cheated from high stakes players.

We have denial after denial until they are forced to admit the truth (or their version of it).

We have part truths and cover ups, lack of disclosure and a likely conflict of interest.

We have two rooms caught cheating and lying. Yet, these two rooms are still operating under license of the KGC.

People continue playing at AP and UB
Both Absolute Poker and Ultimatebet continue to thrive. Players continue to trust them with their money. Neither room has suffered a serious decline in traffic. SCARY!!!!

Come on people, wake up!

There are many poker sites that accept American players where you don't need to fear for your financial security. There's no excuse for patronizing these two sites.

At least take the time to read the threads and blogs I have linked here. Make an informed decision. And don't say I didn't warn you!

These are a few excerpts (posted by Cornell Figi) from the current discussion at 2plus2....

This statement is a key to the deception involved in this press release. Just because Tokwiro is the sole proprietor of UltimateBet you should not infer that Tokwiro is intimately involved in the company’s management.

Understanding who Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG is and what Tokwiro does for UltimateBet is vital to understanding what occurred at Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet and how the cheating was allowed to occur. In order to recognize the depth of the deception in this press release one must first understand Tokwiro’s role in the ownership and management of UltimateBet and Absolute Poker. The following is just a brief preview of what is known about of these relationships, many pages of additional info including sources will be posted soon.

On paper Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG holds a 100% interest in both UltimateBet and Absolute Poker. Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG is a shell corporation registered in the Kahnawake territory of Canada and owned by Chief Joe Norton. Joe Norton’s primary role in the company is to use his tribal connections to do things that would be illegal, impractical, or expensive anywhere outside of his reservation.

The ownership and management structure of AP/UB is intentionally designed to be practically indecipherable. The ‘real’ owners of UltimateBet and Absolute Poker do not want the company to be in their name for liability and tax reasons. They also do not want anyone to be able to trace the company back to them for legal reasons. However, they have not been able to completely cover their tracks.

Chief Joe Norton subcontracts the management of UltimateBet and Absolute Poker to a privately owned Maltese company called Blast Off Ltd. (in the past other companies have played the role that Blast Off Ltd. is currently filling, the names of the companies have changed but the relationship and ownership have not. The constantly changing companies add an additional wrinkle in figuring out the ‘real’ owners of the company).

Blast Off Ltd. is a shell company which owns other shell companies which in turn own other shell companies and the final link in the chain is the company that is subcontracted to manage the poker sites.

Many of the people who are ‘hired’ by that subsidiary to manage the poker sites are the original investors in the companies. Their ‘employment contract’ includes an incentive deal where they are paid the vast majority of UB/AP’s profits every year for the next 20 years. They are making the same money that they once made as founder and owner of the companies before they decided to go under ground but they have absolved themselves of the risk because they are now just employees. Among other people, Scott Tom (founder of AP and operator of the Potripper and other AP cheating accounts) is a ‘consultant’ who still receives a significant percentage of UB/AP’s annual profits.

Calling the KGC a regulatory body is completely dishonest.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission was created in 1996 by Chief Joe Norton. The KGC was created so that online gambling sites could put the KGC logo on their webpage and claim to be independently regulated.

I am not positing that every gaming site that boasts the KGC logo (below) on their website is cheating its players. However, there is irrefutable evidence that any employee, owner, or operator of a gaming site licensed by the KGC has the ability to cheat is players without fear of interference or detection from their regulatory authority. If you gamble on a website licensed by the KGC you should know that there is no outside authority protecting you from an unfair game. Gambling on a website licensed by the KGC is a gamble in itself.

The investigation has concluded that certain player accounts did in fact have an unfair advantage, and that these accounts targeted the highest limit games on the site.[9] The individuals responsible were found to have worked for the previous ownership of UltimateBet prior to the sale of the business to Tokwiro in October 2006.

There is lot of substance in this sentence
An honest way to rewrite this sentence is: The cheating was perpetrated by the ‘real’ owners of UltimateBet and their very close associates who hold upper management positions. The cheaters continue to be paid their dividends and they may or may not still be intimately involved in the management of the company.

This sentence from the press release really is a stroke of genius; it might be the most misleading yet technically true sentence that I have ever read. In order to fully understand how misleading this sentence is, please see note [3] about the ownership and management structure of UltimateBet.

This sentence is also very curious in that there is no documented evidence that Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG purchased UltimateBet in October 2006. UltimateBet nor Tokwiro issued a press release, there were no newspaper articles on the acquisition, there was not a single blog reporting the acquisition, and UltimateBet did not post anything on their website about the acquisition. To the best of my knowledge Tokwiro was not mentioned a single time on UltimateBet’s website until it was added in an attempt to distance themselves from this scandal.

Assuming however that Tokwiro did purchase UltimateBet in October 2006 it would be true that the cheaters ‘worked for the previous ownership.’ What the press release doesn’t say is that the cheaters still work for the current ownership. What the press release also doesn’t say is that the cheaters are the real ownership of UltimateBet. What the press release should have said was “The owners of UltimateBet operated a superuser account for over twenty months allowing them access to their opponents hole cards and the ability to steal from the players”

Furthermore, that same ‘previous ownership’ referred to in this sentence is still in charge of all day to day functions of UltimateBet and the same previous ownership is still being paid dividends by UltimateBet for their management of the site.

The statement that: “The individuals responsible were found to have worked for the previous ownership of UltimateBet prior to the sale of the business to Tokwiro in October 2006.” was worded like the problem was taken care of because previous ownership is out of the picture. Unfortunately, we know better.

Here is a little background information about the recent sales of UltimateBet which should explain more about the cheaters and their relationship to the company. I have tried to simplify things as much as possible in this outline, I will go into further detail later. There are hundreds to thousands of pages of source documents that I have uncovered that will be posted later.

In October 2006 the privately held, Malta based Blast Off Ltd. purchased a publicly traded company called Excapsa Software Inc. While all Excapsa did was own and operate online gaming sites the company owned several subsidiaries out of legal liability concerns. One of Excapsa’s subsidiaries owned UltimateBet.

In February 2006 Excapsa floated on the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market. After the float Excapsa was a publicly traded company with a market value of ~$230m.

Blast Off Ltd. was owned by the principals of UltimateBet/Absolute Poker (Scott Tom et al) and those same people were at the helm of Excapsa (note: while this is all true this is also very well hidden as these people did not hold the titles of any of these companies).

In October 2006 these principles sold Excapsa to Blast Off Ltd. for $130m. Of the $130m sale price $10m was paid to the shareholders at the time of the sale and promissory notes were given for the remainder. There is no evidence that the total payment was ever made and there is also other money ‘missing.’ from what was reported about this sale. The missing money might amount to anywhere from $40m - $150m and it is very likely that the owners of Excapsa were guilty of investor fraud when they sold the company to themselves at a discounted rate, stole millions of dollars, and then (probably) defaulted on their promises for full payment. (note: I have good evidence that this is exactly what happened however I am yet to find the 155bb/100 smoking gun so I can not say with 100% certainty that Excapsa committed investor fraud when they sold to Blast Off.)

After many months - UltimateBet finally issues a statement!

ULTIMATEBET ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING UNFAIR PLAY

MONTREAL, CANADA (MAY 29, 2008) --- Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG ("Tokwiro"), proprietors of UltimateBet.com ("UltimateBet"), one of the world's largest online card rooms, today announced the results of its lengthy investigation into allegations of unfair play, which was triggered by concerns about an account named 'NioNio'. Tokwiro has worked diligently in cooperation with its regulatory body, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission ("KGC"), and with independent third-party experts to conduct a thorough investigation that included a comprehensive review of hand histories and game data, thorough analyses of software and network security, and audits of its security practices and procedures.

The investigation has concluded that certain player accounts did in fact have an unfair advantage, and that these accounts targeted the highest limit games on the site. The individuals responsible were found to have worked for the previous ownership of UltimateBet prior to the sale of the business to Tokwiro in October 2006. Tokwiro is taking full responsibility for this situation and will immediately begin refunding UltimateBet customers for any losses that were incurred as a result of unfair play.

The fraudulent activity was enabled by unauthorized software code that allowed the perpetrators to obtain hole card information during live play. The existence of this vulnerability was unknown to Tokwiro until February 2008 and existed prior to UltimateBet's acquisition by Tokwiro in October 2006. Our investigation has confirmed that the code was part of a legacy auditing system that was manipulated by the perpetrators. Gaming Associates, independent auditors hired by the KGC, have confirmed that the software code that provided the unfair advantage has been permanently removed.

Throughout the investigation of this incident, Tokwiro's consistent priorities have been:
  1. To permanently remove the ability to engage in unfair play;
  2. To complete its investigation and come to a full understanding of what occurred;
  3. To refund the affected customers; and
  4. To implement measures that prevents future incidents.
The Company said, "We would like to thank our customers for their patience, loyalty and support, as well as for their understanding that we are doing everything we can to correct this situation. The staff and management of UltimateBet are fully committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our players, and we want to assure customers of our unwavering resolve to monitor site security with every resource at our disposal."

Investigation Timeline

These are the key events in the course of the incident.
  • January 2008: UltimateBet is alerted to suspicions of unfair play on the part of the account "NioNio". Within 24 hours, UltimateBet contacts the KGC to provide formal notice that UltimateBet has initiated an investigation of the incident. UltimateBet subsequently forwarded a copy of all related data to the KGC.

  • January 2008: The "NioNio" account and related accounts are suspended pending further investigation.

  • February 2008: Preliminary findings indicate abnormally high winning statistics for the suspect accounts. After discussions with the KGC, UltimateBet engages third-party gaming experts to assist with the analysis.

  • February 2008: Investigators confirm that the suspect accounts are associated with individuals who had worked for UltimateBet under the previous ownership.

  • February 2008: UltimateBet discovers the unauthorized code that allowed the perpetrators to obtain hole card information during live play. The code was part of a legacy auditing system that was manipulated by the perpetrators of the fraud.

  • February 2008: UltimateBet immediately removes the unauthorized code and works with the KGC and with third-party auditors to verify that the security hole has been eliminated.

  • March 2008: Six player accounts are confirmed to have participated in this scheme. No accounts were deleted at any point, although some account names were changed multiple times. The following account names are known to have been used in the fraudulent activity: NioNio, Sleepless, NoPaddles, nvtease, flatbroke33, ilike2win, UtakeIt2, FlipFlop2, erick456, WhackMe44, RockStarLA, stoned2nite, monizzle, FireNTexas, HeadKase01, LetsPatttty, NYMobser, and WhoWhereWhen.

  • May 2008: The investigation confirms that the fraudulent activity took place from March 7, 2006 to December 3, 2007.

  • May 2008: Gaming Associates certifies that the software code that enabled unfair play was removed from UltimateBet servers in February of 2008.

  • May 2008: Customers affected by this incident are identified, and plans for corrective action are reviewed with the KGC.

Corrective Actions Taken

The following actions have been taken or are currently underway as a direct result of this investigation.
  • The security hole identified in UltimateBet's investigation has been permanently eliminated.

  • UltimateBet is establishing a state-of-the-art software Security Center that consolidates and greatly enhances existing security capabilities. The first release of the new Security Center focuses solely on the immediate detection of abnormal winnings. Gaming mathematicians, poker professionals, and security software developers have all contributed to the specifications for the new Security Center.

  • UltimateBet customers are no longer permitted to change account names unless they have suffered abuse in chat rooms. Requests for changes must be supported by proof of abuse and must be approved by the Chief Compliance Officer.

  • In addition to its existing security department, UltimateBet has established a new specialized Poker Security team of professionals dedicated to fraud prevention.

  • The refund process will begin immediately. The accounts associated with fraudulent activity did not use an unfair advantage in all play sessions. Regardless, UltimateBet is refunding all losses to these accounts.

  • Accounts related to the fraudulent activity have been disabled, and the individuals associated with those accounts permanently banned from the site.

  • UltimateBet has worked closely and transparently with its governing body, the KGC and its designated expert auditors, to determine exactly what happened, how it happened, and who was involved, and has taken action to prevent any possibility of this situation recurring.

  • Tokwiro is pursuing its legal options in regard to this incident.

She has been best friends with Melissa Leonard, daughter of Allan Leonard (alias The Captain) since the age of 12. When they were growing up, Lindsey spent more time at our house rather than her own. At the age of 16, Lindsey was diagnosed as having lupus. Since that time, she has had many hospital stays and has had a constant trouble fighting this condition. In the middle of March, Lindsey had seizures and was admitted to the hospital in Bristol, Tennessee. Upon testing, they determined that Lindsey had a mild stroke as a result. She spent approximately two weeks in the hospital recovering. After discharge, she was prescribed new medications and as a result had a severe allergic reaction to them. Her skin was ate away from the inside-out and left severe blisters and open wounds that eventually ate away her topical skin. She is currently at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee in the Burn Unit. She has been there since April 19, 2008 and is in severe pain and her skin is slowly growing back. On April 21, 2008, the family was called in as they did not expect Lindsey to pull through. Her mother, Bobbie Harmon is staying with her daughter as finances will allow. Lindsey condition is still critical with some improvement.

Celeb Poker Spam Alert

If there's one thing that pisses me off in a big way it's casino spam.
The newest poker room to employ spam as a marketing strategy is Celeb Poker. They have been employing a company from India to spam email accounts and most recently have set up an affiliate site called rakebackcelebpoker.com. This new site appears to be directly owned by Celeb Poker and is now spamming poker blogs with their links.

There are many casino and poker sites who use spam as a marketing tool. Too many! So it's time to name and shame. Every time I receive a spam email or get a spam comment here, I'll post it for all to see.

As a player, what can you do to stop this behavior?
Refuse to support the offending casino or poker site! It's that simple. Just don't play there.

As an affiliate, I promise to never promote or endorse these assholes.

Players and affiliates...
Don't play or promote Celeb Poker!! Cut off their cash flow and maybe they'll cut out the blackhat marketing!

CelebPoker is operated under license from Boss Media... perhaps they should be held accountable as well. What licensees do has a direct bearing on Boss's reputation. Maybe it's time Boss Media stepped up and forced these guys to cut out the spam tactics!

Murder Suspect Arrested While Playing Poker

A man suspected of a brutal stabbing and charged with the murder of three people inside a New Jersey home was arrested during a 200/400 limit poker game at the Commerce casino in California. Police connected the man to the crime scene via a diary kept by one of his alleged victims.

The diary kept by Han Il Kim led police to Kang Hyuk Choi, by allegedly making it apparent that during his last days of life, Choi was in the house with Kim, his mother and his uncle. The two men, Kim, 27, and Choi quarreled over money according to reports.

Prosecutors say Choi used a knife to stab Kim a number of times at Kim’s home in Tenafly New York. Tenafly is about 10 miles North of Midtown Manhattan.

Following the triple murder, Choi a 32 year old male from Valley Stream New York allegedly left the scene of the murders in a BMW belonging to Han Il Kim. He then, according to reports, caught a flight to California carrying more than $30,000 in cash, and some credit cards registered in Han Kim’s name. Choi was then treated in a California hospital for injuries he is alleged to have suffered during the victims fight for their lives.

Bergen County prosecutor Frank Puccio said Kim’s body was found hidden in the closet of his bedroom. His bed was filled with bed sheets and clothing to make it appear as if someone was asleep in it. Hours later, allegedly Choi was still in the house, and reports say he stabbed Yoo Bok Kim as she entered the room to check on her son.
Kim’s uncle, Doo Soo Seo was also murdered, at the age of 70.

Choi was arrested while carrying $88,000 in cash, chips from a casino, and was still carrying the credit cards allegedly taken from the Kim residence following the murders, all with Han Il Kim’s name on them. In addition to those cards, Choi had receipts from purchases made with other people’s credit cards.

Puccio believes that Choi is the only suspect in this brutal stabbing murder of a family in New York “We’re convinced that Mr. Choi is the sole actor. In terms of looking for other suspects, the case is closed,” Puccio said.

History of the Poker Chip

I found this article a long time ago (origin unknown) and originally posted it on my forum. I found it interesting and thought it was worth sharing here.

History of the Poker Chip

Poker chips, also known as cheques, have been around as long as the game of poker itself. In the beginning, poker chips were introduced as a way to keep track of the money in the game instead of using real coins which were confusing for the players. These first chips were made out of ivory, bone, and wood and each represented a real money equivalent. As the popularity of poker began to rise, these chips soon became a problem as the materials they were made of allowed shady characters to sneak their own "chips" into the game.

In order to prevent counterfeit chips from entering play, establishments began to develop their own chips with custom designs, weights, and special inlays that made them hard to duplicate. In the late 1800's to the mid 1900's these chips were made from clay. In the 1940's the plastic poker chip was developed and popularized in home games. Today, the best poker chips are found in the casinos, and while they are still called clay chips, they aren't actually made of clay. Instead they are made out of clay composite material such as clay, sand, and chalk.

Even with custom designs and weights, poker chips are still a security concern. Recently, casinos began to place RFID microchips inside their poker chips. This technology makes it very difficult for counterfeiters to duplicate the chips and has the benefit of being able to track where the physical location of the chip as well as the betting patterns of gamblers. However, these types of chips are very expensive to produce thus limiting the number of casinos using these new poker chips.

Canadian wins 888.com World Poker Crown

12 May 2008

CANADA –- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Canadian plumber Jack Hinchey this morning won the $3 million guaranteed 888.com World Poker Crown in Peralada Castle, Spain defeating his fellow countryman Michael Lawson to take down the $1 million first prize.

Heads-up, Hinchey started with a more than 3:1 chip lead over Lawson, who won his seat for $20 on Pacific Poker. The 21-year-old internet pro clawed his way back to a 1.5:1 underdog in chips but a grimly determined Hinchey dug in. The final hand saw Hinchey limp on the button with Ks-Qc and the flop fell a favourable Kh-Jh-6h. Lawson pushed all-in with pair of 10s and Hinchey called. The turn was a jack and the river a third king and the Canadian grandfather was awarded the World Poker Crown.

Hinchey, who has been playing poker and hustling pool for over 30 years, started the final table as chip leader and while it was not all plain sailing en route to the title, his victory left him ecstatic.

"This is a lot better than being in a sewage pit!," he grinned after his victory. "My strategy was to keep the pressure on everybody, I flubbed a few times in the middle but it worked out in the end. They call Michael an internet pro but I think he's proved to everybody here that he's a poker professional, so thank you. Victoria, my granddaughter is off to uni, she might not like the idea yet but this money is going towards that!"

Eight players competed at the final table after battling through a field of over 2,214 players online on April 26 in the $1,050 buy-in event which was streamed live on the internet yesterday at Worldpokercrown.com.

The innovative event was the first in the world be streamed live on the web with graphics and holecards.

A Mother's Day Wish

Today we celebrate the greatest women on earth... MOMS!

For me, there are a number of special moms who deserve mention here.

Dale, my wife. My best friend and soul mate. Without you, I'd be lost. I love you more today than yesterday. Thank you for loving me and thank you for letting me be me.

My three girls are moms too. I don't tell them often enough how much I love them and how proud I am of them. I'm not sure what I did to deserve you three but I'm thankful every day that we are so close. I'm glad that we are more than dad and daughter, we're friends too! I hope your day is is filled with everything you desire and MUCH more!

Darlene, my sister. The glue that binds our family together. The one I lean on when I need a shoulder. You never let me down. Thank you. You have no idea how much your support has helped me over the years.

And my mom. Taken from us so long ago. Thirty years! A lifetime. Mom, you never had the chance to meet your grandchildren but they know you, I keep your memory alive through my stories about you. It's a shame they never had the opportunity to know you as I did though, they could have learned so much! Mom, you are my inspiration. You taught by example, completely selfless in every action. I'll never forget your open door policy. Friends, family and strangers were always invited into your home and your heart. Even when we had nothing, you opened our door to anyone in need whether it was a sick relative or an abused Foster child or just a friend looking for a little comfort. Playing MobWars on Facebook

Well, I gotta tell you, I started playing MobWars on Facebook three weeks ago and now I'm addicted!

The game strategy is pretty simple; build your mob, purchase property to generate income, buy weapons and vehicles. You basically start out as a lowly gangster wanna be but as you acquire property, weapons and gang members, you quickly grow more powerful.

Early strategy involves doing "jobs" to gain experience points and earn cash. Then, use the cash to purchase weapons and property. Try to advance slowly in the beginning so that your income and "stockpile" grow at an appropriate rate to keep up with your enemies.

As your "mob" grows, you must add to your stockpile so that each member of your mob is equipped with the best weapons and vehicles. This takes cash and some items in your stockpile require "upkeep" which comes out of your income.

I've been playing MobWars for 21 days now and am already on level 19. My hourly income has grown to $460,000. I own 8 villas, 7 restaurants, 16 apartments, 17 hotels, a marina and an office tower. I'll be buying a beach front hotel and a casino by Monday. This will bring my income up to around a million dollars an hour.

Some basic MobWars strategy tips
1. Once you begin earning income, visit the bank as soon as you login and deposit your earnings. This safeguards your money.
2. Fight; this uses up your health and stamina but gains experience points if you win. Once you are too weak to fight, visit the "city" to purchase property and buildings (you will need to withdraw from the bank for this). *Note* - If you lose a fight without depositing your money into the bank, you will be "robbed" by the winner of the fight. Remember to visit the bank before fighting!
3. Each time someone joins your mob, add to your stockpile to ensure that your mob is equipped with the best weapons and vehicles.

PIC Club - A new deposit method for US players

Pic Club is the newest deposit method for American players. This is a brand new concept and apparently makes depositing funds into casino and poker accounts legal. The concept is a bit complicated and there has been quite a bit of discussion in the forums as to whether Pic Club is a safe option for US players.

We have been discussing Pic Club over at APCW and to our surprise, Chuck Kidd (founder of Pic Club) dropped by to answer our questions.

The following is Mr Kidd's response to our comments....

My name is Chuck Kidd and I am the CEO and Founder of PIC-Club. My friends call me CharlieK so lets keep it on that level.

The idea for PIC-Club was conceived just 1 week after the UIEGA was passed when I read the new law and found that they had excluded trading companies. See they can't turn of Charles Schwab, E F Hutton or the Chicago Commodity exchange from using the wire services to transfer money. So with a little help and encouragement from a group of poker playing friends I bought a trading company and PIC-Club was born. The company that owns PIC-Club is Ledvil International a fully licensed and authorized trading company. We just happen to be the only one that ever thought of trading in poker.

I first introduced at this idea at a Poker Conference in Dec. 2006 in Costa Rica. It was well received by some and others found it silly. One man that didn't find it silly was a speaker at the conference and happens to be one of the foremost legal minds in this industry. He was impressed with the idea and it was with his words of encouragement that I pressed on.

After obtaining good legal council and getting the opinion of all 50 states laws as they pertain to online poker, PIC-Club was launched on April 22. 2007 with one poker room willing to give us a try and help us develop this unique concept in gaming.

I have controlled the growth of PIC-Club very carefully as we are dealing in your money. As a poker player I remember the frustrations of deposits being lost and customer service being useless. I vowed to make PIC-Club the dominant force in the industry for processing your funds into and out of a poker room in a manner never used before and doing it in a safe, secure and accountable way.

We are a CLUB; when you join you add to our strength in numbers, we are over 5000 strong and growing. This gives us some bargaining power to obtain the best deals for you at the poker rooms. The poker rooms have always had the upper hand, as there was never a reason to stop doing business as usual. Well the PIC-Club is changing how poker rooms do business with the players.

I read in this forum a concern about our fees. Let me assure you that PIC-Club makes no money from the players. We only charge the cost of processing to our members. If it cost PIC-Club 5% to process a credit card, that is what we charge you. Our company makes its money from the poker room every time you deposit your money into your playing account.

While we are on the subject of money let me address our CSA (common shares account). This is an account that all members of PIC contribute to. This is your money not ours, it sets in a bank collecting 3.5% guaranteed interest. $1.00 from every deposit goes into this account. We also deduct .05% of winning withdrawals from a member and add it to this fund. Last year in December PIC-Club added 6.8% to the total CSA pool. That means that PIC-Club members at Christmas time received 14% on those dollars. Easy math there, $1.00 in $1.14 out. Heck even the worst donk in the world who lost every hand he ever played that year made money from PIC-Club if he was a member. You tell me what other processor offers this.

We are growing, getting stronger every day. With the BetCris family of poker rooms joining us and the Merge Gaming Network now live at the PIC-Club, we service over 50 rooms. Everleaf Gaming, home of Poker4ever and their 35 rooms have just joined us and will be live very soon. If your favorite room isn't using PIC-Club why not drop them an email and tell them to wake up.

I will stop by from time to time to answer any questions you may have and you are also welcome to stop by the PIC-Club and ask our customer support for help on any issue. Just so you know, our customer support is made up of online poker players working from their homes as they help you. If you have read any of the online forums you will have seen from the postings that our 24/7 support team is world class.
I'm still on the fence as far as the legality of such a club but, it seems to be a viable alternative for those in the States.

Here's the link for those who want to check out their website.

Do you love bounty tournaments?
Bounty Grand Master
Carbon Poker has adapted the world class ELO rating system for Bounty tournaments, which is active right now! The ELO system assigns a base score (in this case 1500), and you will win and lose points based on your eliminations and knockouts in Bounty games. Eliminating players with a higher ELO score will net you more points, and those with a lower score are worth less points.

This is a system awarding quality of play over quantity, as your success isn't rated on how many players you eliminate, but rather the skill level of those players (based on their ELO score).

All Grand Master details can be found within your Player Admin, along with your current score and ELO progress history.

WSOP News...

The World Series of Poker has decided to delay the playing of the Main Event final table until November 9th.
The schedule for this year's Main Event at the World Series of Poker, a no-limit, Texas Hold 'em tournament (buy-in, $10,000) to be held in Las Vegas at the Rio Hotel & Casino:

July 3: Main Event (6,358 participants last year) begins.

July 14: Field reduced to nine players.

Nov. 9: Final table play begins, cutting field to two.

Nov. 10: Final two meet for title.

Nov. 11: ESPN airs two-hour show on the final table. Telecast begins at 9 p.m. ET.

You've just made the final table in July in the Main Event at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. You're one of nine players with a shot at millions. You're hot.

Now you have to wait until Nov. 9 for the next hand to be dealt.

No problem, says two-time Main Event champion Johnny Chan, who welcomes the WSOP's move to delay the final table to facilitate a Nov. 11 ESPN telecast within hours of the tournament's finish...

I would love to hear YOUR thoughts on this. Obviously, it's a good move financially but is it too commercial? Will it affect the outcome?
