Gambling Affiliates Union_

Press Release:

Announcing the creation of the Gambling Affiliates Union!

The Gambling Affiliates Union (GAU) is a new organization dedicated to fighting for affiliates rights. The role of the Gambling Affiliates Union will be first and foremost as an arbitration service between union members and affiliate programs.

The GAU will also take on all affiliate programs that include the following clause in their terms and conditions (affiliate contracts):
“we reserve the right to change these terms at any time”
According to GAU founder Paul White, this term would never stand up in a court of law and has no business being included in any affiliate agreement. "For this reason, we intend to fight to have this clause removed from all contracts".

The Gambling Affiliates union will act in unison with other groups and associations to protect it's members from unfair treatment by the online gambling affiliate programs. The GAU already has the support of the Affiliate Guard Dog (AGD), the Gambling Portal Webmasters Association (GPWA) and the Association of Players, Casinos, and Webmasters (APCW).

Affiliates expect and deserve to be treated fairly and with honesty. The GAU will focus on the challenges that face Affiliates today including Term and Condition changes, Timely Payments, Tracking and Reporting, Praise and Appreciation, Ethical Accountability and other issues of importance.

Although the Gambling Affiliates Union is not designed to protect players interests, it does recognize that the industry requires proper player protection to thrive and will consider player protection as an important objective in the interest of affiliates.

Arbitration
The Gambling Affiliates Union will represent any gambling affiliate that is a member of the GAU and enter into arbitration with any gambling programs, whether recognised as friend or foe by the GAU.

Whether your issue is large or small the GAU will attempt to form a resolution suitable to both parties, with the GAU members welfare first and foremost.

If arbitration fails and the GAU deems the programs to be acting unfairly or not in the manner which relates to how the program professes to do business, then the GAU will prepare a report.

This report will be published for members perusal and a poll will be initiated. Once this poll has concluded and an agreed course of action has been made the GAU will publish the results and ask members to act accordingly.

If you require any form of arbitration at any time please contact the GAU.

Arbitration may take many forms and may not always be concluded as fast as the GAU would like, however, all measures available to the GAU for a speedy resolution will be implemented.

Membership
Membership to the GAU is open to affiliates, affiliate managers and program staff.

Membership is currently free during the establishment of the GAU, however, the GAU will eventually have a monthly membership fee. This membership fee will be set annually by the membership, however, initially will be $3 per month or $30 per year for affiliates and $6 per month or $60 per year for programs and affiliate managers.

Membership will allow you to vote in GAU member voting issues and give you access to GAU support and arbitration.

The GAU uses the membership fees to cover operational costs and staff wages, it allows the GAU to be free of sponsorship from programs, thus disallowing them the chance to use financial leverage to force the GAU to not pursue issues against them unlike other organisations within the industry.

As the GAU is committed to fighting for transparency, honesty and a fair market place for gambling affiliates, the GAU will not deny any affiliate membership on financial grounds. Therefore, if there is any reason why a potential member cannot pay the membership fees, the Gambling Affiliates Union will allow membership free of charge. Please contact the GAU if you have a question regarding this.

eCOGRA News...
The Pokerkeep has been recognized as a reputable gaming portal by eCOGRA. We are humbled and honored to join the select handful of poker affiliates to be listed by eCOGRA.

What does being an eCOGRA listed Portal mean?
In seeking as wide a protection for the player as possible, eCOGRA has identified a number of portals where we are confident that players can benefit from the integrity and quality of the content, and the commitment to fair play and customer service of the portalmaster.

About eCogra:

eCOGRA, a non-profit organization, is the independent standards authority of the online gaming industry, specifically overseeing fair gaming, player protection and responsible operator conduct. The function that eCOGRA performs protects those who engage in online gaming where it is lawful.

It's hard to believe that in just over one year, The Pokerkeep has been recognized by the GPWA (Gambling Portal Webmasters Association) and eCOGRA for our commitment to the online poker industry and especially to those who play poker online. I will do my best to ensure that we live up to the standards of these important organizations and to the expectations of our players.

And speaking of the GPWA....
I was recently interviewed by the GPWA Times Magazine. The interview will be published in the next issue of the magazine, due to be mailed within the next couple of weeks. I'll post the interview here when it arrives.
