Greece and the Netherlands face legal action from the European Commission if they fail to open up their markets to internet gambling companies. The EU's executive have taken similar action against other nations and says arguments that restrictions are needed to protect consumers are only valid if applied to domestic and foreign gaming companies equally.
A municipal court in Denmark has ruled that poker is a game of skill. They say tournaments are not contravening Danish law.
On a related note; Frederik Hostrup, president of the Danish Poker Association, has been acquitted on charges of "organizing illegal gambling events". According to Hostrup's lawyer, "there are between 200,000 and 300,000 Danes who play poker at least once a week and more than half a million who play regularly".
